State Dam Loan/Grant Funding Program

Ohio has a funding program to assist dam owners with repair, abandonment, or removal of dams.

The Ohio Water Development Authority has two low-interest loan programs for the repair or removal of existing dams. The Dam Safety Loan Program offers loans to local governments, and the Dam Safety Linked Deposit Program offers low-interest loans to private dam owners. To be eligible for these programs, the dam owner must have plans for repair or removal of the dam approved by the Division of Water and they must qualify based on their ability to repay the loan. The Linked Deposit Program is offered through private banks.
